Freistehendes Haus direkt am Park im Stadtzentrum
Unser Haus liegt in einer Einbahnstraße und der Garten grenzt an den Stadtpark (mit direktem Zugang). Unser Zuhause hat im EG einen offenen Wohn-Essbereich mit großer Küche, ein Büro/Garderobe und Bad mit Dusche. Im OG befinden sich 4 Zimmer (1 Elternschlafzimmer, 1 Kinderzimmer mit einem Einzelbett (120x200cm), 2 Kinderzimmer mit je einem King Size Bett sowie ein Bad mit Dusche & Badewanne. Im UG haben wir ein weiteres Büro, indem sich auch ein ausziehbares Schlafsofa befindet (max. 2 Personen, eher als vorübergehende Schlafmöglichkeit gedacht, da das Zimmer recht klein ist). Angrenzend an das Haus haben wir eine 60 qm zum Teil überdachte Terrasse.
Gerne stellen wir unser Auto, einen BMW X3 (kein Automatik!), während des Aufenthalts zur Verfügung.
Im Sommer haben wir einen Aufstellpool (O360cm, 122cm hoch) in unserem Garten und von Frühling bis Herbst ein Trampolin (O 360cm). Auf der Terrasse steht unser Tischkicker und wir haben eine tragbare Feuerschale von höfats für schöne Abende am Feuer. Der direkte Zugang zum Park führt zu einem Volleyballnetz und dem Spielplatz. Für die Kinder haben wir auch Fußballtore in unserem Garten und ein großes Holzpferd mit Sattel und Zaumzeug.

Idstein ist eine idyllische Kleinstadt im Taunus mit einem schönen Zentrum mit vielen Fachwerkhäusern, dem Hexenturm (unserem Wahrzeichen) und einem Schloss, das heute als Gymnasium genutzt wird. in 5 Gehminuten Entfernung gibt es ein Hallen- und Freibad, das aktuell zwar saniert wird, aber zumindest den Aussenbereich im Sommer öffnet. Das Wander- und Mountainbikegebiet Großer Feldberg ist 20 km entfernt und lädt zur Naherholung ein.
Idstein liegt verkehrsgünstig in der Nähe von Wiesbaden (ca. 20 km) und Frankfurt (ca. 35 km). Auch der Rheingau ist ein schönes Ausflugsziel, das in ca. 35 Minuten erreichbar ist.
Idstein is an idyllic small town in the Taunus with a beautiful center with many half-timbered houses, the Hexenturm (our landmark) and a castle, which is now used as a grammar school. within a 5-minute walk there is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, which is currently being renovated, but at least the outdoor pool is opened every summer. The hiking and mountain biking area Großer Feldberg is 20 km away and invites you to relax.
Idstein is conveniently located near Wiesbaden (approx. 20 km) and Frankfurt (approx. 35 km). The Rheingau is also a beautiful excursion destination, which can be reached in about 35 minutes.
If you visit us in July, there is the "Jazz Festival" in Idstein from friday until sunday. In june we have the "Rheingauer Weinsommer", where there is a meeting point at the Hexenturm from thursday to sunday to drink wine and have some Flammkuchen or something else. In summer during vacation time there are bands playing every thursday in the city. We also have a small and cosy "Weihnachtsmarkt" for one weekend in december.

I cannot say enough about how lovely the Staerk family was to interact with. They were always quick to respond to any questions and very helpful. Their home was so clean, stylish and beautiful. They left meticulous instructions on how to care for their home as well as very helpful information about day trips around this beautiful part of Germany. I would highly recommend the Staerk to anyone who is interested in doing a home exchange to Germany.
Sehr netter Kontakt mit der Tauschfamilie, offen und ehrliche Familie. Das Haus war in perfektem Zustand, sehr sauber und ordentlich. Vieles wurde eigens für uns hergerichtet (z.B. DVD Player, DVDs). Das Haus ist geräumig, mit einem sehr gemütlichen Wohn-/Esszimmer. Idstein ist ein sehr nettes Städtchen mit vielen Fachwerkhäusern, sehr gemütliche Fußgängerzone mit netten Geschäften und Cafés. Ich kann einen Tausch wärmstens empfehlen.

Ecki is chemist and working as a business develop manager for an american company. He likes road cycling, jogging, football and working in the house or garden. Katrin works as a freelancer expecially for Frankfurt located companies and is organizing corporate events. She likes reading, loves to be in the garden, cycling and being outside. Elina is our 16 years old daughter and she loves ice skating, skating, swimming and drawing. Antonia is 13 years old and also loves ice skating, reading and transverse flute. Hugo is 11 years old and he likes football and tennis, playing Lego, cycling, playing guitar, drawing, meeting his neighbours in the garden and swimming.
We are interested in other cultures and meeting people. We also had au pairs years ago from different countries (Poland, Albania, Ukraine) and we still are in touch with them.
Our two cats are only home living. They are not allowed to go outside (even if they sometimes do it anyway). They get only dried fodder and we use a drinking fountain, so feed and water needs to be replenished about all 5 days. If you do not want to care for our cats, no problem. We can bring them somewhere else for the time of your stay, but we still prefer to keep them in the house.
