Galway is a vibrant city with plenty of interesting places to visit, including Galway Museum and the Aquarium. There is a lively pub and restaurant scene with locally-sourced and artisanal produce, two Michelin starred restaurants, a weekly craft and food market and bustling shopping streets.
Galway is noted for its arts scene with a range of theatre and street performances all year round as well as traditional Irish music in pubs and venues in the city. Galway city is the gateway to Connemara - an unspoilt area of mountains, lakes, coastline and the Aran Islands. With its breathtaking scenery it is a great place for walking, swimming, cycling and hiking. Nearby is the world-famous Cliffs of Moher and the unique landscape of the Burren in Co. Clare. Other areas of interest can be visited on a day trip, including Croagh Patrick and the ancient monastic site of Clonmacnoise.
We are one hour from Shannon and Knock airports and two hours from Dublin.
We are a family of five - Mick is a retired family doctor and Fiona has retired from education management. Our three adult children now make their own holiday plans.
We are flexible with our travel dates throughout the year and will consider all offers including week-end trips. Long-term stays of two to three months will be considered. We have experienced over 30 wonderful exchanges and will treat your home with care and respect.

Michael and Fiona are experienced exchange partners and generous hosts, Their two story house in Galway is lovely and well appointed with an excellent kitchen, dinning room, large living room and five comfortable bedrooms. The house is located in a quiet rural neighborhood just ten minutes drive to parking. From there, it’s an easy walk into the heart of Galway. The O’loughlin’s are excellent exchange partners. We exchanged cars and happily traveled traveled to sites around the West coast of Ireland while Mick and Fiona traveled around the Northwest of the USA. For anyone who wants to visit the wild Irish coast and learn more about the history of this remarkably beautiful country, we would highly recommend discussing a house exchange with the O’loughlins. Judith and Charles Landau
The house was wonderful and pleasant to live in. Michael and Fiona have a wonderful kitchen, and provided us with a large number of books and brochures to guide us in our exploration of the beautiful area. The car was a SUV and was perfect for the day trips we did, sighseeing the beautiful areas within 1-2 hours and hiking in the mountains.
We experienced a very nice exchange. The house is very nice and spacious, the kitchen newly renovated and just great. The garden is huge, but unfortunately could not be used because of the bad weather. The house is on the outskirts of Galway in a very quiet area. A car is absolutely necessary. The exchange with Michael and Fiona was mostly in writing. We really enjoyed the exchange, thanks again for that.
