Dear intervac friends, We are very interested in exchanging homes for +/- 18 days. For the exchange we'll be 4 adults.We are non smokers.
Our old stone cottage is large and comfortable, and situated at the end of a quiet lane . Although it is often hot in the summer, our house is always cold. You can enjoy the large garden with its lovely flowers. Although surrounded in wooded countryside, our house isn't far from Albi (12 kms), Toulouse (80 kms), and Carmaux,(6 km) a small town with a big shopping centre.
In July 2010 UNESCO named ALBI a World Heritage Site.
From our house, you can go for pleasant walks along country paths.
At Cap Découverte, at about 7 kms you can go sailing, swim in a lake or in a swimming pool and there are possibilities for horse riding. there are possibilities of mountain biskateboking, tobogganing,arding etc.
As far as the weather is concerned, the Tarn benefits from the twin influences of Atlantic coolness and green landscapes on one hand and the sunny and warm climate of the Mediterranean on the other . Summertime is usually fine. The countryside is varied, including plains and rolling hills with a lot of rivers, lakes (10 kms ) having a rich heritage of fortified villages, castles, churches. Albi cathedral dating from the C13. The "Palais de la Berbie" , housing the museum Toulouse Lautrec. Cordes: Medieval city C13 (20 kms) A music festival, concert.
Picturesque markets and a wide range of specialist shops in Albi and Carmaux .
Traditional gastronomy ( typical small and restaurants inns in the country side) Foie gras, confits, vineyards of Gaillac. The nearest shops and supermarkets are 6k away.
