Breda, Holanda

We welcome you to stay in our bright and spacious home, that won international architecture prices in the year 2006. 2006 is the year we build the house together with our architect and his group of designers.
We are a family of four: Ronald is a director who loves glider flying, sailing and playing hockey. Karin works in urban design and emergency response. She loves playing the flute in a jazz band, sailing and photography. Renske is 29 . She studied earth sciences in Delft and recently started working as environmental engineer. She loves playing the piano, playing hockey and sailing. Robin is 26 and studies pedagogy in Utrecht. She loves playing the piano, the guitar and writing. Both our daughters live independently and do not often accompany us on our exchanges anymore.
We love to indulge into other cultures and countries and have lived in Indonesia and Australia with our family. We hope you will love to stay in our place and will have a good time! We are looking forward to exchanging homes and will take good care of your place.

Our house is situated in Breda, a large historical city in the south of The Netherlands. It is situated in a in a small farmers town called "Princenhage" 2 km from the centre of Breda and has its own small and cosy centre with shopping facilities, restaurants and cafe's. The house lies in 2150 sq.m. in a park like garden with fruit trees and berries to be picked in autumn. The terrace of 100 sq. m. on the south and has a large dining table and chairs. Lounge chairs and table can be placed anywhere on the terrace or in the garden in the sun or in the shade under the trees.
The house consists of a large open area for living, cooking, lounging and relaxing of 150 sq.m. The kitchen is located in the centre of the house, with separate tables on the east and west near the windows for breakfast and dinner, which allow you to always sit in the sun on sunny days.
The living room has a fireplace and two large couches to relax on. Please feel free to use are large collection of books and music.
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms.  From the large master bed room of 50 sq. m you can overlook the garden and the terrace. Here is a king size bed and two places to sit under the window.
The two bedrooms of our daughters are 20 sq. m and have two single and two double beds. The guest rooms is 14 sq m and has a double bed.
The bathroom is  9 sq. m and has three showers in one large shower area,  a wc and two wash basins.

Behind the greenhouse lies our sauna in a Siberian loghouse. We have a garden shower on the terrace. It is great to relax in the sauna, cool off under the garden shower and sit down in front of the fireplace afterwards.

For children we have a table tennis table in the garage and many plays and outdoor activities.
Wehave 5 bikes, also a children's bike, available for you to explore the city and its beautiful scenery of woods, rivers and mansions.

Breda is located in the South-West of Holland 1 hour by fast train to Amsterdam Central Station, 45 minutes from Antwerp and 1 hour from Brussels in Belgium and 20 minutes from Rotterdam. 
Our home is located 20 minutes from nature reserve "The Biesbosch, with its rivers and creeks where beavers are still to be found.
Lovely places to visit are the fortified city of Heusden, Slot Loevesteijn and The Efteling for children.
Breda is an old royal city, where the royal family of Holland lies buried in the cathedral on the lovely central market square. The city has many old squares and parks and has the most beautifully renovated inner city of the country. Shopping is nice in the car free area.
The region is known for its Burgundy character, which shows in the many culinary restaurants in Breda and surrounding villages.
