We live in a 138-square-metre split-level house nestled on the slope of a side valley of the Neckar. In our case, ‘split-level’ means that there are five levels in our house, with a corresponding number of steps.
The house is situated in a very quiet cul-de-sac, where children play in the street and the forest begins behind the row of houses opposite.
The bus stop for the old town is a 3-minute walk downhill via a flight of steps – walking uphill takes longer, depending on your fitness level. However, the stop, from which the bus takes 20 minutes to reach the old town, can also be reached in about 12 minutes without any steps, simply by walking along our street.
You can enjoy the tranquillity of our suburb, where our street leads directly onto hiking trails into the Odenwald and along the river Neckar, but also, after a short drive (or a longer walk), enjoy the famous Heidelberg Philosophers’ Walk, the lively banks of the river Neckar, as well as the picturesque old town and the castle. Neuenheim, with its restaurants, small shops and historic market square – one of Heidelberg’s most popular districts – is also within easy reach. Much of Heidelberg is both peaceful and lively, and simply a pleasure to experience.
