Family one story home in a quiet neighbourhood on private street. The beach is only steps away, along with acres of beautiful forest. The area is a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy experiencing rugged westcoast beaches and hiking trails. Daytrips:
It is only a 40 minute drive/bus service to beautiful Victoria, the province's Capital. Here you can visit the famous Empress Hotel where Her Majesty the Queen stays, the BC Parliment Buildings, the world famous Butchard Gardens, numerous restaurants, theatres, museums, quaint shops, and upscale shopping malls.
It is a 1 hour 40 minute scenic ferry ride to Vancouver, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Ferries leave hourly and bus tours can take you directly to downtown sights if you prefer not to drive.
From Victoria you can also catch a ferry to Port Angeles, USA. Ferries/flights leave daily from Victoria to downtown Seattle, WA. and would make a great overnight side trip.
Just a few minutes driving West from our home is the start of the Juan de Fuca Marine Trail. This is a series of scenic beaches and hiking trails. Pack a picnic for a wonderful day of exploring tidal pools, and maybe catch a glimpse of whales! Plenty of wildlife to see!

We are recently retired and looking forward to new adventures
Keith 65 and Lynda 64 are retired small business owners (Government Policy Consulting) and our two children are older. It is just the two of us traveling now. We can be quite flexible regarding travel schedule and duration. We drive a Ford Escape - automatic and seat 5 persons. Our home is 6 yrs old and on one level and open plan. We have a new hot tub so it’s a very quiet relaxing home. Wildlife abounds in our area….soaring eagles, seals and whales frequent the beach. Buses leave Sooke to downtown Victoria for easy sightseeing if you prefer not to drive.
International airports are in Vancouver and Victoria. We can be flexible in leaving a vehicle at either location.
We have had three exchanges with folks from England,Netherlands, and Scotland. We very much enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to many more successful exchanges. Our neighborhood is very safe for children to bike ride and play. We do have a cat who is inside/outside or could stay with family.
