We are retired, so very flexible on the dates and period of exchange. Ideally two to three weeks, but longer if possible. |
Detached house near the center, with a magnificent garden, facing the park.
The house is centrally located, but at the same time quiet. The building was built in 1882 and has been renovated. Unfortunately there is no lift. The whole building belongs to our family. The main entrance has five steps. The flat is on the first floor and there are 18 steps to get there. The house is independent, with a large garden. It consists of five flats. Eugenia and Claudio live in the flat on the first floor. Eleonora and Silvia live in two other flats on the second floor. On the ground floor there are two flats in need of renovation. At the entrance to the garden there is a bathroom with a toilet and sink, very convenient in summer. The garden is very large, there is a small vegetable garden and several fruit trees. You can use the barbecue and eat outside under the gazebo. On the first floor there is a large balcony where you can also sit outside. The flat on the first floor has a large living room with a dining area and lounge with TV. The kitchen is modern and equipped with all amenities.
There are many supermarkets, shops and restaurants nearby. The nearest supermarket is 100 metres away, the bus stop is 50 metres away, but it is possible to walk to the centre because of the short distance.
We have two cats who are completely independent. They can enter and leave the building through a small door in the garden. The cats can enter the common areas, but not the flats. In case all family members are absent at the same time, they have a food vending machine and two cameras for remote surveillance. We have indicated the presence of cats in our intervac card, just to warn them in case of any allergies, but in any case they do not require any special assistance. Normally, in fact, our daughter Silvia looks after them. The kittens are called Mary and Elisabeth and are very affectionate.
A non-simultaneous exchange is possible as Eleonora lives with her boyfriend, so the flat on the second floor is always available.

The house is located in the centre of the Schlosschemnitz district, in front of a beautiful park. Although it is within walking distance from the centre, the apartments are quiet and comfortable. The climate in Chemnitz is perfect in all seasons. In fact, it is never too harsh or too hot. In fact, the city has plenty of parks that make the environment healthy, quiet and pleasant. The city is an open-air museum of architectural works. Never get tired of admiring the beautiful houses built between 1860 and 1900. There is no palace like any other, it is truly amazing to see the imagination, inventiveness and creativity. At the same time it is also an example of modern architecture. In fact even during the communist period the city was chosen as an example of futurist architecture. It is a city suitable for everyone, adults, children and the elderly. You never get tired of discovering it, visiting parks, museums and above all participating in the many events that are periodically organized. At Christmas it's wonderful. The Christmas market in Chemnitz has been considered the most beautiful in Germany.
Art Nouveau style work of art, a symbol of industrial heritage in Saxony, designed by architect Henry van de Velde. Today it is a cultural and museum centre.
Villa Esche is a former residence owned by the Esche family designed by the Belgian artist Henry van de Velde, considered a historical monument of Art Nouveau at European level. It represents in Chemnitz - together with the Kaßberg district, one of the largest existing districts entirely built in Art Nouveau and Belle Époque style, Erich Mendelsohn's Schocken department store and the impressive industrial archaeology buildings in the city - an extraordinary feat of modern architecture. Villa Esche houses the Museum of Henry van de Velde, (the family of the entrepreneur Esche and the artist were close friends) and part of the extensive art collection of the Kunstsammlungen Palace in Chemnitz. Today the building is open for art exhibitions, events, cultural events and conferences. In the Henry van de Velde Museum, on the ground floor, the former dining room and music room, which largely retain the original furnishings designed by Van de Velde, can be admired. On the first floor of the villa, a permanent exhibition in the former bedroom, children's room and bathroom provides an overview of the complete works of the multifaceted artist.
Events and festivals
The inhabitants of Chemnitz are also known for their inclination to organise numerous festivals throughout the year. Among the most popular are the Sächsische Mozartfest, which takes place in May, the Splash! (Europe's largest hip-hop and dancehall festival) in August and Begegnungen in October.

Top 10 things to see and do in Dresden
Praised by Canaletto and revered by travellers who have been making their way for decades, the exquisite city of Dresden, lying on the banks of the Elbe, rarely fails to amaze. Rebuilt after the destruction of World War II, this city now stands as one of the most beautiful in Germany.
Zwinger Palace
An exemplary example of early 19th century Baroque architecture, the Zwinger Palace offers a glimpse of high life, court parties and tournaments of the time. It is a spectacular and very German art complex, pavilions, galleries, museums and courtyards, which houses an impressive collection of porcelain and a museum of mathematical and physical instruments.
Frauenkirche
Considered one of the most beautiful churches in Germany, this mixture of domes and domes, frescoes and unforgettable works of art is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Dresden today.
Katy Garage Green Vault (Grünes Gewölbe)
The Royal Treasure is where visitors can find one of the most guarded rooms in Europe, embellished with exuberant art, coins, diamonds and other priceless treasures. The green vault was opened for the first time in the 18th century from August and suffered severe losses in the following times. It was finally reopened in 2004 after reconstruction, rising from the ashes of the former site.
Procession of the Princes
Dedicated to the Wettin dynasty of Saxony, Fürstenzug or the "Procession of the Princes" is a 330-foot-long porcelain mural commissioned in 1870. It shows the long reign of the famous family line that dominated the region for over eight centuries, the portraits depict dukes and kings, scientists, craftsmen and other important German figures of the time.
Theaterplatz and the Semperoper
Located in the heart of Dresden's Old Town, Theaterplatz is an extraordinary market square designed in Italian Renaissance style and built by Hans Erlwein. Although it is among the youngest structures in the area, the Semper Opera House is also worth a visit: a magnificent structure built between 1838 and 1841, mixing the two main architectural currents of classicism and the neo-Renaissance.
In Löschwitz, a Dresden district is truly remarkable with special shops. There is an old milk and cheese shop. It was extensively restored in the 1990s with beautiful original porcelain tiles painted in bright colours and then you see a funicular railway nearby. This cable car takes you to the northernmost wine region of Germany.
Up there you have a wonderful view of the Elbe valley. Also there you will find the famous restaurant and café "Luisenhof".
Seiffen / Erzgeb. (since 1956 Kurort Seiffen) is a municipality in the Saxon Metal Mountains in Germany. It is known for its toy manufacturers and their demonstration laboratories. The Erzgebirge Seiffen is therefore nicknamed the toy village.
Pillnitz Castle is a restored Baroque palace at the eastern end of the city of Dresden in the German state of Saxony. It is located on the banks of the river Elbe in the old village of Pillnitz . Pillnitz Castle was the summer residence of many voters and kings of Saxony; it is also known for the Pillnitz Declaration in 1791.
The Pillnitz Castle complex consists of three main buildings, the Riverside Palace ( Wasserpalais ) on the riverside; the Upper Palace ( Bergpalais ) on the hillside, both in Baroque style with Chinese elements; and the later Neoclassical New Palace ( Neues Palais ), which connects them on the east side. The buildings enclose a baroque garden and are surrounded by a large public park.
Today the palace houses the Museum of Arts and Crafts ( Kunstgewerbemuseum ) of the State Art Collections of Dresden and a Palace Museum ( Schlossmuseum ).
Loschwitz is a district ( Ortsamtsbereich ) of Dresden, Germany, incorporated in 1921. It consists of ten districts ( Stadtteile )
Loschwitz is a villa district located on the north side of the river Elbe . At the top of the hill is the Weißer Hirsch district, named after an old inn built in 1685 by Saxon chaplain Christoph Bernhard, where in 1888 the naturopathic doctor Heinrich Lahmann opened a sanatorium. The districts of Wachwitz and Pillnitz are adjacent to each other to the east and Rosengarten Park to the west. Loschwitz is connected to the Blasewitz district south of the Elbe by the Blue Wonder bridge ( Blaues Wunder ). In addition, the district includes a large part of the Dresden moorland, the city's forest.
The ancient village of Loschwitz, a wine area potato used since the 11th century, was the first time in an act 1227. Around 1660 the voter John George II of Saxony had several vineyards arranged on the hillside, which soon became a trendy recreational and residential area for the Dresden nobility and the wealthy bourgeois like the composer Heinrich Schütz or the goldsmith Johann Melchior Dinglinger. The author Christian Gottfried Körner had a cottage in the vineyards, where his guest Friedrich Schiller wrote an ode to joy in 1785. Around 1800 James Ogilvy, 7th Earl of Findlater bought large estates, where since 1850 the Elbschlösser (Elbe Castles) were built: the Albrechtsberg Palace and Villa Stockhausen ( Lingnerschloss ) of Prince Albert of Prussia and Eckberg Castle, completed in 1861.
The church is of particular architectural and historical interest, as well as the churchyard, for the numerous burials of famous people. It was full of about 1800 and has been replaced by the Loschwitz cemetery.
A popular place is the Luisenhof restaurant, built in 1895 and named after Crown Princess Louise of Saxony. The "Balcony of Dresden" offers a panoramic view of the city and the Elbe valley. Nearby is the Standseilbahn Dresden funicular and the Schwebebahn Dresden , the oldest suspension railway in the world, which are still in use.
The nobility and wealthy citizens of Dresden lived in Loschwitz like Theodor Körner , Carl Maria von Weber and Gerhard von Kügelgen . A famous inhabitant of Weißer Hirsch was the inventor Manfred von Ardennes with his scientific research institute. One of his neighbours was retired officer Friedrich Paulus, commander of the Battle of Stalingrad, who died here in 1957. Many famous people stayed in Loschwitz for a short time: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Heinrich von Kleist , Ernst Moritz Arndt , Novalis , Ludwig Tieck , Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Leopold Auer and Anton Graff . Around 1920-1930 Loschwitz was the most expensive living area in Europe.
This is demonstrated by the surviving funicular railway, originally placed as a purely aid to residents in ascending the steep slopes of the river valley, and only recently acquired novelty as a minor tourist attraction. Recently restored and operated by the local public transport agency.
Cultural and architectural attractions
Loschwitz is reminiscent of an open-air museum that combines several castles, villas, churches and natural monuments on its territory. Places such as the Hentschelmühle or the Melchior Dinglinger goldsmith's summer house - once active for August the Strong - still attract visitors. A cultural jewel is the artist's house, built in 1898, which comprises 16 studios and 12 apartments. The artists live and work behind the walls of this Art Nouveau villa. All these attractions can be seen particularly impressive from a bird's eye view - with the Loschwitz suspension railway. The mountain railway is characterized by these special features:
1. The valley station of the suspension railway is located east of Körnerplatz.
2. The railway, built in 1898, is the oldest suspension railway in the world.
3. The 80-meter viewing platform on Loschwitzhöhe can be reached in about five minutes.
Weimar is a city in the federal state of Thuringia , Germany . It is located in central Germany between Erfurt in the west and Jena in the east, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) southwest of Leipzig, 170 kilometers (106 miles) north of Nuremberg and 170 kilometers (106 miles) west of Dresden . Together with the neighbouring cities Erfurt and Jenacos it forms the central metropolitan area of Thuringia with about 500,000 inhabitants, while the city itself has a population of 65,000. Weimar is famous for its great cultural heritage and its importance in German history.
The city was a focal point of German enlightenment and home to the leading figures in the literary genre of Weimar classicism, the writers Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich Schiller . In the 19th century, famous composers such as Franz Liszt made Weimar a music center and later artists and architects such as Henry van de Velde , Wassily Kandinsky , Paul Klee , Lyonel Feininger and Walter Gropius came to the city and founded the Bauhaus movement, the most important German design school of the interwar period. However, the political history of Weimar in the 20th century was incoherent: it was the place where the first German democratic constitution was signed after the First World War, giving its name to the Weimar Republic period in German politics (1918-1933), as well as one of the cities mythized by National Socialist propaganda.
Until 1948, Weimar was the capital of Thuringia. Today, many places in the city centre have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites (either as part of the Weimar Classicism complex or as part of the Bauhaus complex) and tourism is one of Weimar's main economic sectors. The relevant institutions in Weimar are the Bauhaus University, the Liszt School of Music, the Duchess Anna Amalia Library and two important courts in Thuringia (the Supreme Administrative Court and the Constitutional Court). In 1999, Weimar was the European Capital of Culture.
FREIBERG
The university town Freiberg is a large district and mountain town approximately in the middle of the free state of Saxony between Dresden and Chemnitz . It is the administrative seat of the Mittelachsen district, which was founded in 2008, and with the Freiberg Bergakademie, founded in 1765, is the seat of the oldest technical and mining university in the world.
The entire old town is a historic building. Together with monuments of local mining history such as the Reiche Zeche, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Montanregion since 2019. [3] In 1969, the city was about 800 years away from the dominated mining and metallurgical industries. In recent decades, a structural change has occurred in a high-tech location in the field of semiconductor production and solar technology, making Freiberg part of Silicon Saxony. As of 31 December 2015, 39,318 inhabitants lived in the current city without districts.
Cathedral of St. Mary of Freiberg
Among the most important architectural attractions of Freiberg is the Cathedral of St. Mary, often when Freiberg Cathedral or Freiberg Cathedral called a late-Gothic hall church, the sub-market was built from 1484 to 1501. The impressive Golden Gate is located on the south side of the cathedral. Adjacent to the cathedral is the Electoral Funeral Chapel, restored in 1594 by Giovanni Maria Nosseni [40] in Italian Renaissance style and restored in 1885. All the Protestant princes of the Albertine line of Henry the Pious († 1541) rest hereJohann Georg IV. († 1694). The life-size marble statue of the elector Moritz († 1553) is worth a visit. Inside the cathedral there is a group of triumphal crosses, the tulip pulpit in self-supporting stone and the large Silbermann organ.
The Elbsandsteingebirg is a mountain built mainly of sandstone on the upper part of the Elbe River in Saxony (Germany) and Northern Bohemia (Czech Republic). It has a size of about 700 km² and reaches heights up to 723 meters above sea level. The German part is generally referred to as Saxon Switzerland, the Czech part as Bohemian Switzerland ( České Švýcarsko ). Hence the term "Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland" ( Českosaské Švýcarsko ), which is used more often today.
The Elbe sandstone mountains extend on both sides of the Elbe between the Czech town of Děčín ( Tetschen ) and the Saxon Pirna . The northern border is approximately along a line between Pirna, Hohnstein , Sebnitz , Chřibská , Česká Kamenice and Děčín. The southern border follows from Pirna approximately the Gottleuba valley to the Erzgebirge ridge and then along the Jílovský potok ( Eulaubach ) to Děčín. The highest mountain of the mountain is Děčínský Sněžník ( High snow ) with 723 m) in the Czech part of the mountains, the highest German elevation is the Great Zschirnstein (561 m).
The national parks of Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland are located in the Elbe sandstone mountains.

What to see in Leipzig.
Leipzig, a multifaceted city
City of music, creativity, science and culture. Leipzig is world famous for its ancient and modern symbols. Among the latter: the university, the Spinnerei - a centre of contemporary art - the Auerbachs Keller, the old place where Goethe set some Faust scenes, and the Fair. But Leipzig is also the city of Bach, the Pacific Revolution and much more.
city of music
Nowhere else in the world is it possible to get so close to the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. In Leipzig, Bach was for 27 years music director and choirmaster of the Thomaskirche (St. Thomas Church), which today, together with the Bachmuseum, has become a must for all Bach enthusiasts. And you too, after visiting the Bachfest in Leipzig, will surely join the group of lovers of the great composer. If you love the music of Mendelssohn, Schumann or Wagner, come to Leipzig and retrace their steps. Here you will have the opportunity to experience great music up close with the Gewandhaus orchestra, the Leipzig Opera, the famous Thomanerchor choir or one of the many festivals organized in this city, from the "Classic Open" to the "Jazztage" music days.
Don't forget to go shopping in the Mädler Passage and Specks Hof galleries, the Petersbogen, the Marktgalerie and the Hauptbahnhof-Promenaden shopping centre.
Leipzig is also the city of bars, clubs and nightlife. It is no coincidence that the "Honky-Tonk", Europe's largest "Kneipen" (German pubs) festival takes place here every year. A real food and wine phenomenon is the "Drallewatsch", a mile of breweries and restaurants from all over the world. But Leipzig is also the city of the "peaceful revolution", which started from the Nikolaikirche (St. Nicholas Church) in 1989 and paved the way for the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification.
Leipzig has a world-class orchestra and the oldest in the whole of Germany. Its headquarters is the Gewandhaus, the symbol of the city for over 250 years located on Augustusplatz in front of the Opera House.
Just outside the centre of Leipzig, in a large, flat, green expanse, stands the monument commemorating the decisive battle in the war of liberation against Napoleon.
Battle of the Nations Monument
Plunge into modern European history
Just outside the centre of Leipzig, on a large, flat, green expanse, stands the monument commemorating the decisive battle in the war of liberation against Napoleon.
The 91 metre high building is in the shape of a tower with a staircase of 364 steps leading to the top of the terrace, which is also accessible by elevator. The fields around Leipzig were the scene of a bloody conflict in 1813 that was resolved with the victory of the Allies.
In memory of this historic event, the Battle of Nations Monument and the Russian Memorial Church were inaugurated in Leipzig in 1913 on the same site where Napoleon's command stood. Inside you can visit the museum FORUM 1813, which collects evidence of the battle. In 2013, on the occasion of the celebrations for the centenary of the Monument, it was subject to restoration.

Texto de apresentação da família
We are a family of four people: Claudio and Eugenia, pensioners and our daughters Eleonora and Silvia, aged 30 and 27 respectively. Our status as members is PLATINUM, which means that we have already gathered a good experience in exchanging houses. We are looking for our 29st exchange.
Eugenia and Claudio are retired, so an exchange would be possible at any time of the year. The girls, on the other hand, have work commitments and are not always available. But in any case they have their own apartment. Even a possible exchange not at the same time would be possible.
The cats are independent and normally there is no need to give assistance. We wrote about their presence because they move around in the common areas and some people might be allergic.
Estilo de vida
We love to spend time together exploring. We regularly visit museums. We also enjoy theme parks, food festivals, parks, visitor attractions and historic houses. Silvia likes biking and use it every. Eleonora, Eugenia and Silvia likes walking, visit the theatre, or try a new restaurant or bar. At home we enjoy cooking, meeting friends and reading fiction.
