Town house in a small town near Bruges
Our house is situated in the centre of a small town, near the town hall, market (in progress on Monday mornings), park, swimming pool, shops, etc. The surrounding countryside is fantastic for cycling and walking. 2 electric bicycles available. Smaller private garden with patio. The house is roomy and comfortable, with two bathrooms and two double bedrooms. There is a garage or carport, and parking on the premises, with automatic gate.
Ideal base if you want to visit Bruges (25mins), Ghent (35mins), Brussels (50mins), Antwerp (50mins), Paris (3hours), Cologne (2hours), Amsterdam (2,5 hours), London (4 hours). There are two golf courses less than 20 minutes away.
The Dutch border is 3 miles away, French border 40 miles.
Our children have left the house. We prefer exchanges with single individuals or couples.
Notre maison est située au centre d'un village d'environ 10.000 habitants, à quelques pas de la place du marché (marché en cours tous les lundis), de l'arrêt de l'autobus, des magasins, du parc, etc. La maison est spacieuse et confortable, avec deux chambres doubles et deux salles de bains. Il y a un garage et une entrée à la propriété avec porte automatique. Il y a également un petit jardin privé avec terrasse Pied-à-terre idéal pour explorer les villes flamandes, mais aussi la côte Belge, la Hollande et même le nord de la France. Possibilité de faire échange de voiture et bicyclettes (électriques).

We live in an area of outstanding beauty. Just north of us (5km) we have the Dutch polder landscape with wide views. You can walk and cycle along canals and creeks. The pleasant seaside town of Cadzand is within cycling distance (1,5 hours, 20 mins by car). Just south of us (5kms) is the provincial park of Drongengoed, an area with forests, and our favourite walking ground. If you love hustle and bustle, check out Knokke (20kms) with its beach, shops and grandeur. You won't want to miss visiting Bruges or Ghent if you love art, history and good food.
By the way, our home town of Maldegem has a few popular restaurants that are excellent, yet don't break the bank (and there is a Mc Donalds). The pub at the corner of our street serves many fine Belgian beers in a cheerful ambiance. Places to visit in our town are the Canadian war cemetary and Canada museum. Our part of the world was liberated by the Canadian and Polish troops at the end of WWII. Also worth a visit is the Steam train museum and the town park. Euroshop is a large store that literally sells everything and attracts droves of people. On the edge of town, within walking distance, all major supermarkets and plenty of other stores can be found.
Nous vivons dans un endroit priviligié. Au bout de notre rue (3km), il y a la frontière hollandaise avec son paysage de polders vaste et beau. Nous aimons nous promener autour des plans d'eau et sur les digues. Il y a la station balnéaire de Cadzand à distance cyclable (1,5 h ou 20 min en voiture). Au sud, à 5km, il y a le parc provinvial de Drongengoed, réserve naturelle où nous faisons de longues promenades. Pour une ambiance mondaine, rendez-vous à Knokke avec ses belles villas, magasins et gens BCBG. Ne manquez pas de visiter les villes d'art flamandes comme Bruges (20min), Gand (30min) et Anvers (50min).
Notre ville offre quelques très bons restaurants, mais également des friteries, salons de thé et même un McDonald. Goûtez les fameuses bières dans le café au coin de notre rue. Visitez le cimetière canadien, le musée canadien et le musée du train à vapeur. Derrière notre maison, il y a un beau parc et à l'entrée de la ville, il y a tous les grands magasins.

Looking for exchanges in Italy, Northern Spain in May, June, September, but open to any offers.
We are a retired couple in our early 70s. We've had a few very rewarding exchanges with people from Canada, the US, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and France. Our three children and eight grandchildren like to visit and enjoy mum's cooking and baking. Dad still works part-time as a language trainer for expats and business people. Our house is well-kept, and we promise to look after your belongings with the same care.
