At the edge of the center. Our maisonnette, above the water (lots of light and spacious). From our home, if you are a walker, you can easily walk to the center of Amsterdam.
Our duplex home is quite big for a home in the centre-zone of Amsterdam (99 m2). The area is peacefull, a lot of birds come here to escape the busy centre-area for a while.
We have got a wonderfull view, you can see the harbour from both sides East and West.
The kitchen is big enough to enjoy long "family & friends"-meals with. We have a comfortable living-room with view across the water. Boats will be floating by and go under our building. Also a small outside, to enjoy the sun (from about 12:30 to sundown)
Shopping area is a 5-7 minutes walk. You will be at the Central Station in 10 minutes by tram.

We will be travelling with two persons: Frank and Daphne, both from 1964. We do have two children: Eyal (1990) and Robin (1994). Frank is an IT-specialist Daphne a social pedagogue.
Our hobbies, amongst many other things, will be: visiting cities, hiking, roadtrips, making drawings and music, visiting concerts and museums.

USC6168Our exchange went smoothly from start to finish. The Van der Reeps responded quickly and clearly and we proceeded with our advance preparations without a hitch. They provided us with clear instructions on how to get to and into the property. There were very useful materials on-site for us to peruse during our stay.
The apartment itself was fantastic. Better than in the photos. It is located in an area of Amsterdam that underwent urban renewal in the 90's. The apartment sits above the water with a peaceful view of the water and sky. It is a light-filled apartment with birdsong in the background, a peaceful place to come back to after an urban day. It also has nearby neighborhood centers with shops and cafes plus a free ferry to the parkland in the north where you can ride bikes all around. Public transit is nearby in several locations and there are also things to see within walking distance, if preferred.
The bedrooms were comfortable, the bathroom and kitchen well-equipped, the living room very comfortable and tranquil with a lovely balcony overlooking the water. The apartment was clean and tidy but also warm and felt like a home.
They took good care of our apartment, everything was clean, tidy, intact upon our return.
All in all a great exchange experience.
