Liepaja is the 3rd largest city in Latvia. Although Liepaja has only 74 000 inhabitans. Our house is situated on the only street in Liepāja that connects the Baltic sea and Liepāja’s lake.
The Liepaja beach has amongst the whitest and finest sand in the world. This provides an ideal place for lazy relaxation, sporting activities, long or romantic walks, and cycling. 
Peter’s Market is in only five minutes walking distance from our house. The market is open daily. Every day you can buy fresh fruit, vegetables, milk products, fish and meat. 
Karosta (Previous Naval port of Liepaja) is a really unique and rare site not only for Latvia but also historically, architecturally and as an example of urban construction, worldwide. This is one of the most unusual sightseeing places in Latvia. One can like or dislike Karosta, but it won’t leave one cold. 
 
Liepaja is Latvia's capital of music because of different music festivals (pop, rock, jazz, sypmhonie, organ music etc.) and old musical traditions. Liepaja is also town of students. We have University here. Liepaja has its own Theater and Symphony Orcestra. There is also wide choise of cafes, bars and restaurants and some very charming music clubs. 
 
Around Liepaja ar a lot of possibilities for exploring nature – forests, nature parks, wild beach, mushroom picking in autumn, fishing, hiking etc.

Two closest airports are in Palanga (Lithuania, 60 km from Liepaja) and Riga (capital of Latvia, 200 km from Liepaja, wide range of air companies and flights). There are a lot of cheap flights from/to Riga with AirBaltic, Wizzair and Ryanair and a lot of other popular European flight companies. There is also ferry connection from Liepaja and from Klaipeda (Lithuania, 90 km from Liepaja)
 
Liepaja is a good base, if you want to explore western part of Latvia and Lithuania.
