Our house is a 10 mnn drive to the center of Lyon, and 20 mn by bus.
Lyon is at the same time the former capital of The Gaule with impressiv ancient romain remains and a restaurated middle age district and an modern city with an activ cultural life
With the TGV (Very fast train) It is situated 1h30 from the mediteranean sea and Marseille and two hours from Paris; if you prefer the wilderness of the Alps it will take you 1h30 by care to be there !
In other words it is ideally situated in the center of France if you plan to travel around, but also worth a 2 weeks stay in itself if you'd rather visit the city and chill out in the garden or take the small zodiac (you'll need a licence for engins over 9,9 cv) to park in the city center by the river
